A Solo Vacation

I am doing something radical- I am taking a trip all by myself! I have put on my big girl pants and shoes and have embarked cross country alone. In the past, my son Matthew has been my traveling companion- hockey trips and camps, not to mention tournaments in Norway with side trips all over Europe. More recently, it has been Mark who I have explored new destinations with- The Tail of the Dragon, Charleston, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Williamsburg, San Antonio.....

I am heading west- to visit Matthew who - while he will always be Matty and my youngest, is growing into a remarkable young man. He chose to follow in Logan- - my oldest son’s footsteps and joined the Air Force. Both young men have an incredible future with the flying branch of the military, and I could not be more proud. The purpose of this trip is quite exciting- Matthew has applied to the US Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, and we have a meeting there Monday morning. I know he can handle the work and I am so proud of him for applying.

It is strange not to have my sidekick with me tho. I intend to get my ‘eyes full’ as he always tells me- and I hope to allow my brain to chill out so I can return home with a fresh perspective on issues that have been dragging me down.
